Analysis of Google Analytics for MJ-Digital Blog

Below is the analysis of the website traffic accumulated over 6 weeks for my blog MJ-Digital using Google Analytics.

Audience Overview:

The above report shows the audience metrics for the blog, in terms of
  • How many unique users came to the website (Users)?
  • How many times they visited the website (Sessions)?
  • How many times the users viewed different pages of the website in total (page views)?
  • How much time they spent on the website (Avg. Session Duration)?
  • How many users exited the site immediately after coming to the site (the Bounce rate)

  • Due to the short term duration the site was live, it will be very hard to judge the quality of site performance. One way to do is to compare with industry benchmarks especially for bounce rate (Neely, 2019) and average session duration.

    Acquisition Overview:

The above report shows which channels brought traffic to the website. Since the blog was promoted through personal networks, the majority of the traffic came through Social (Facebook, LinkedIn, Blogger) and Direct (directly through URL). Organic search was expectedly non-existent as there was no active on-page optimization done given the time limitation.

    Behaviour Overview:

The behaviour report shows, the total page views, average time on a page, bounce rate and exit rate of the pages. It also shows the page-wise traffic in absolute and in the percentage of the total traffic. The homepage is most likely the most visited page, which is the same in this case itself. As for other pages, the older posts seem to have more page views compared to the newer posts.

    Audiences Drilldown:

Below are the reports of audiences for the blog split by device and location.
    Audiences by Device

    Audiences by Location

Google Analytics offers various other statistics to further know about the users and their behaviour, so that we can better optimize the site in terms of design, content etc.
